Cornvbia sive Cornwallia translates to Cornwall, a county in the southwest of England. The antique map created in 1665 depicts the United Kingdom in the early 17th century, a time marked by political unrest and social inequality. The country was ruled by the Stuart dynasty, with King Charles I on the throne until his execution in 1649. It was also a time of great expansion, with the British Empire beginning to take shape through colonization and overseas trade. The map may show various landmarks, towns and villages, but it is known that Truro, Newquay and St Columb Major are centrally located on the map.
