This antique map, created in 1665 and titled ‘Palatinatvs Posnaniensis… Nova Delineatio’, depicts the region of Palatinatvs Posnaniensis in Poland during the early 17th century. The title translates to ‘New Delineation of the Poznań Voivodeship’, which was an administrative division in the Kingdom of Poland-Lithuania. The map shows the central location of Wolsztyn, Nowy Tomyśl, and Grodzisk Wielkopolski, as well as the bordering country of Germany. During this time period, Poland was a major European power and had a vast territory that included parts of present-day Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, and Lithuania. However, it struggled with political instability and was eventually partitioned by its neighbours in the late 18th century.
