The map shows the central region of the country, including the towns of Doetinchem, Lichtenvoorde, and Halle. The Netherlands at this time was bordered by Germany to the east and had a strong economy due to its maritime trading industry. The country was also known for its artistic and cultural contributions to Europe during the Dutch Golden Age.
