The Renaissance was in full swing, and Italy was a hub of artistic and intellectual activity. The Catholic Church held significant influence over the country, and the Papal States controlled a significant portion of central Italy. The Italian Wars had concluded just a few decades prior, and the country was still recovering from the devastation they wrought. This map offers a glimpse into the geography and political landscape of a specific region of Italy during this period.
