The country was still recovering from the religious wars of the previous century and facing economic challenges. The map shows the region of Roussillon in the south of France, which borders Spain and is known for its rugged coastline, mountainous terrain, and agriculture. The towns of Perpignan, Prades, and Cabestany are located centrally on the map.
