This antique map, created in 1665 and titled ‘Petrocorivm Comitatvs’, depicts a region in France during the early 17th century. The title translates to ‘County of Périgord’, which is located in southwestern France. During this time, France was ruled by Louis XIII and then Louis XIV, and was engaged in numerous wars and conflicts, including the Thirty Years War and the Franco-Spanish War. The country was also undergoing significant cultural and artistic developments, with the rise of French Baroque architecture and the establishment of the French Academy. The map itself shows various towns and geographical features, including Bergerac, Lanquais, and Saint-Félix-de-Villadeix located centrally.
