I’ve just completed digitizing my archive of WWII posters and maps, and I’m excited to offer this stunning reproduction of one of those classic works.
Introducing the “Keep Mum, She’s Not So Dumb!” poster:
This iconic WWII poster features a blonde woman reclining, surrounded by officers from various branches of the Armed Forces. The slogan, an adaptation of the 1940 campaign “Be Like Dad, Keep Mum,” aimed to emphasize the importance of discretion during the war. Issued in 1942, this particular design was intended for officers’ messes and other exclusive gatherings.
The campaign cleverly incorporated ‘sex appeal’ by introducing the character of a beautiful spy, humorously dubbed Olga Polovsky by the media. The poster served as a reminder that even casual conversations could have serious consequences, urging service personnel to remain vigilant about sharing sensitive information.
I take immense pride in my digitization and printing process, ensuring each reproduction is of the highest ‘museum quality.’ Every print is meticulously compared to the original to guarantee accuracy and authenticity. The slideshow above showcases the incredible print resolution, including the historical cross folds from the original poster. I maintain the authenticity of these prints, preserving the historical integrity without photoshopping out any blemishes.
I am confident you will be delighted with your print, capturing a piece of history with unparalleled quality and detail.
