This antique map, created in 1665 and titled ‘Wallia Principatvs’, depicts the region of Wales during the early 17th century. Translated as ‘Principality of Wales’, the map shows the various territories and boundaries of Welsh counties during this time. The United Kingdom, as it is known today, did not exist during this period and instead was a collection of separate kingdoms and principalities. The map also depicts neighbouring countries such as Ireland, but does not show specific locations beyond Aberystwyth, Newtown, and Borth, which are located centrally within Wales.
