The antique map titled ‘Anglia Regnvm’ was created in 1665 and covers the region that is now known as the United Kingdom. The Latin title translates to ‘Kingdom of England’, which was the dominant country at the time, but the map also includes the neighbouring countries of Ireland and the Isle of Man. The United Kingdom in the early 17th century was a nation undergoing significant change and development, with a rich history and culture that is still evident today. The map shows the central location of London, Dublin, and Birmingham, but beyond that, it hints at the diverse landscapes, communities, and industries that make up this fascinating part of the world.
