This antique map from 1665 shows the regions of Walachia, Servia, Bulgaria, and Romania. Bulgaria, located in the central part of the map, was a region that was part of the Ottoman Empire at the time. Its culture was heavily influenced by its neighbours to the north, Romania, and to the south, Greece. The region was known for its agriculture, with wheat and barley being the main crops. The map also shows the nearby countries of Turkey, Romania, and Greece, which were all important players in the political and cultural landscape of the region in the early 17th century. The cities of Bucharest, Sofia, and Thessaloniki are also depicted on the map.
