Hiya, I’m Ciorsdan, a lassie from the Highlands of Scotland with a love for all things printing. After spending a decade in the hustle and bustle of commercial print—working on exciting projects with big brands and advertising agencies in Leith—I decided it was time to take the plunge and start my own venture. So here I am, launching World of Art Prints, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share this journey with you.

You see, printing has always been my passion. I loved the creativity of the commercial world, but there was always something that didn’t quite sit right with me. Working with four-process colour printing was fantastic, but when it came to reproducing the fine details and vibrant colours of my artist friends’ work, I hit a wall. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t get the consistency or quality I wanted. That’s when I stumbled upon the world of giclée printing, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer.

Now, what on earth is giclée printing, I hear you ask? Well, the fancy word ‘giclée’ (pronounced “zhee-clay”) comes from the French verb ‘to spray,’ which is fitting since it’s all about inkjet printing. But this isn’t your average office printer we’re talking about. Giclée printing uses archival-quality inks and high-resolution printers to produce prints that are as close to the original artwork as you can get. The colours are rich, the details are sharp, and the prints can last for decades without fading. It’s like a little piece of magic, and once I discovered it, there was no turning back.

I was hooked. I spent an entire year experimenting with different papers—some good, some not so much—and went through four different printers before finding the one that was just right. It was a bit like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, only with less porridge and more paper jams. But the end result was worth every frustrating moment. I finally had the tools to create the kind of prints I’d always dreamed of—prints that do justice to the original artwork.

So here we are, at the start of this new adventure. World of Art Prints is my way of sharing these beautiful creations with the world. I’ve set up an Etsy shop to reach a uk-wide audience, soon as I can figure out how to post overseas I aim to use this website (hence the “word” of art prints) here I’ll be extending the options—one day, I hope to offer framed prints and canvases, but that’s a work in progress. Perfection takes time, after all!
